Building an approximately 8,000 square foot house overlooking a canal from the ground up for a young couple with three children and three dogs.

Working with the client and builder Assure was involved throughout the construction phase selecting finishes and materials, as well as designing the kitchen, lighting, and all bathrooms.

The studio was entrusted with creating a family- friendly, pet-friendly house for a couple who enjoy entertaining and have a busy social life.

The client wanted a stylish house where the daily wear and tear would not be visible. The interior needed to be practical, with durable surfaces, and a considered choice of materials and finishes.

A touch of glamour sets the tone in the entrance hall. Wood wallcovering, a long-lasting Argentinian cow hide, a polished nickel chandelier and the addition of a living wall add interest in a space without natural light through the mixing of textures.

Neutral tones are layered in signature Assure warm grey and trims in lace white, oatmeal, ivory, taupe leather and beige silk build up a neutral envelope in the social rooms of the house.

Custom pieces include oversize sofas in the living and family rooms which are large enough to comfortably accommodate entertaining and daily life.

Outdoors Dominican keystone frames the slate floor which withstands rain while doing away with the need for rugs. In contrast, the tongue and grove in the ceiling adds sheen and the glossy paint reflects clear light into the living room.

In the master bedroom hardwearing bamboo flooring, an Assure signature, and natural linen wallcovering complement the custom Assure bed with horizontal stitching. The blue children’s bedroom pairs a vintage desk with a custom bunk bed.

The functional spaces allow the family to live stylishly in an inviting, elegant and practical waterside home.
